How our roller conveyors work
ARCO offers a choice of different types of roller conveyors, each with a different mode of operation.
Powered roller conveyors
Powered roller conveyors are most often used for the internal transport of items such as pallets. Roller conveyors can be powered – in the roller – in a number of ways, such as by means of a drive belt or a round belt.
Powered roller conveyors are often manufactured from stainless steel, normal steel, aluminium, or plastic. These roller conveyors are positioned in strategic places to create the best possible internal conveyor solution and to accumulate products in the correct manner. The drive rollers are powered by an external PLC control system. This external control system protects the drive from overloading.
Turning roller conveyors
Turning roller conveyors can be used to create curves or to guide pallets from one process line to another. When a pallet comes onto the turning roller conveyor, the conveyor turns 90 degrees. The pallet is then transported by powered rollers to the appropriate route. The turning roller conveyors are available in lacquered steel and stainless steel.
Gravity roller conveyors
A gravity roller conveyor is also called a non-powered roller conveyor. This type of roller conveyor is built at a certain incline. Gravity causes the products to move from one place to another. The biggest advantage of the gravity roller conveyor is that there are no energy costs involved. This makes it one of the most sustainable methods of internal transport.
Gravity roller conveyors are available in various lengths, widths, and heights. They can be made from normal steel, stainless steel, aluminium, or plastic and are optimized for transporting a wide variety of boxes, for instance. Together with the customer, we look at the best place to position the gravity roller conveyors within the total solution, so as to create an optimum internal conveyor system.
Flexible roller conveyors
Flexible roller conveyors are commonly used when loading and unloading products. As the roller conveyor is built on an accordion-style frame, it can easily be adjusted in terms of length and shape. This type of roller conveyor can also be used to create curves. Flexible roller conveyors can be built as self-driven roller conveyors or non-driven roller conveyors.
