The challenge at Saint Gobain
Born is home to Saint Gobain’s distribution centre for grinding and abrasive solutions. From Born, these solutions go to companies across Europe. Since every order is tailor-made, it took Saint Gobain a lot of time and energy to manually weigh, scan, seal, and label all the boxes. Katleen Schepers (Process Engineer Warehouse Coordinator at Saint Gobain Born) and her colleagues saw opportunities to improve the process. They enlisted ARCO’s help to examine the possibilities for automation and setting up the process more efficiently. Together, we defined the problem and arrived at the best-fit solution.

With ARCO’s new line, the entire process runs a lot smoother and various steps within the packing process have been automated. Not only are fewer operators needed on the line, but it has also brought another major benefit.
