KORONA Mushrooms is one of Hungary’s leading producers and packers of fresh mushrooms, supplying high volumes to demanding markets. As production increased, the existing packaging facility became a constraint.
To remove that bottleneck and prepare for further growth, ARCO delivered a multi-line mushroom packaging system focused on throughput, stability, and scalability. Following the success of this installation and continued production growth, the facility was later expanded with additional automated packaging lines. Together, KORONA Mushrooms and ARCO developed an integrated packaging and material handling solution designed to increase capacity, improve accuracy, and support long-term scalability.
We spoke with Krisztian Racz, responsible for sales and logistics at KORONA Mushrooms, about the project and its results.

The challenge: scaling packaging without losing control
As mushroom volumes continued to grow, packaging became the most critical part of the operation. What once worked well began to show its limits. Line capacity was stretched, flexibility was reduced, and maintaining accuracy required increasing manual effort. “The challenge wasn’t just volume,” explains Krisztian Racz. “It was about keeping efficiency and accuracy at the same level while production kept increasing.”
To continue growing in a controlled way, KORONA Mushrooms needed to scale its packaging operation with a solution that could handle higher throughput, reduce manual dependency, and remain reliable under daily production pressure.
The solution: integrated automated packaging and material handling
After exploring available solutions, KORONA Mushrooms selected our team at ARCO as its automation partner. The solution consists of a fully integrated mushroom packaging system combining material handling, weighing, packaging, and labeling into one continuous process.
“In addition to standard packaging formats, the system is also suitable for the efficient packaging of sliced mushrooms and various mushroom mixes, both with stretch film and top-seal solutions,” says Krisztian Racz.

What makes this solution stand out is the complete integration of packaging and material handling. “Everything works together as one continuous process.” Krisztian Racz explains. The system is designed to keep product flow consistent and controlled. This integrated approach minimizes manual handling, reduces errors, and supports high throughput across all lines.
Performance and results
“All five lines are running reliably, and both capacity and accuracy are excellent,” says Krisztian Racz. “We now handle significantly more fresh mushrooms, and the solution has proven very well suited to manage these higher volumes.”

A long-term partnership built on execution
The collaboration between KORONA Mushrooms and ARCO began in 2022 with a three-line packaging system. Following the success of the initial installation, the facility was later expanded to five lines.
“Because the first installation delivered exactly what we needed, we decided to work with ARCO again and add two more lines,” explains Krisztian Racz. The speed of execution and ARCO’s understanding of real production challenges were key factors in continuing the partnership. With a scalable, automated packaging setup in place, KORONA Mushrooms is well positioned to support future growth and rising market demand. “We are fully satisfied with the collaboration.
