Strapping units secure cartons and bundles with PP or PET strap to stabilize loads for transport. As part of end-of-line packaging, they improve package integrity and cut manual rework. The result is faster handoff to shipping and fewer transport issues.

In an integrated line, a conveyor positions the box under the arch. The machine feeds a strap around the product and tensions it to a set value. It then welds the strap and cuts the tail. Line control can select one or two straps based on box size or weight for consistent load stability.

ARCO designs these units as part of a complete packaging flow. We integrate strapping with conveyors and print-and-apply so labels and verification stay in sync. Controls tie into upstream weighing or scanning, while KANSI provides real-time visibility for quick issue detection and stable throughput.

Key features of Camera & vision systems

ARCO’s strapping units secure boxes and bundles automatically at the end of the packaging line. They apply consistent strap tension and sealing to stabilize loads and prepare them for safe transport. Integrated with conveyors and labeling systems, they keep your logistics flow controlled and efficient.

Consistent load stability
Each unit applies uniform strap tension, preventing product shift or deformation during transport and improving overall package integrity.
Flexible integration
Strapping modules connect directly to upstream conveyors, case closers, and labeling stations, allowing a fully automated end-of-line flow without manual handling.
Precise control
Digital control settings ensure every strap is applied at the right position and tension. Adjustments can be made quickly without mechanical changeovers.
Low maintenance and uptime-focused
Durable components and easy-access design reduce downtime and maintenance needs, keeping production lines running continuously and reliably.

How Strapping units work in practice

In practice, cartons arrive on a powered conveyor and are positioned under the strap arch by sensors. The unit feeds PP or PET strap around the box, tensions to a set value, welds the strap ends, then cuts the tail for a clean finish. Friction or heat sealing is used for a strong joint. Line control selects one or two straps based on size or weight. Load-sensing and precise head positioning keep tension consistent and protect the product. ARCO integrates the strapper with upstream scan, weigh or print-and-apply, using PLC handshakes for reliable flow. Performance is monitored in KANSI so issues are spotted early and throughput stays stable.
